Spent a couple of days in Richmond, Surrey which of course is not the original Yorkshire Dales Richmond but the second Richmond – renamed by Henry VII in 1485 when he held the title of Earl of Richmond. Anyway I digress, whilst in the 2nd Richmond we tried The Gourmet Burger Kitchen which is a New Zealand burger joint complete with a popular New Zealand drink called L&P or Lemon & Paeroa a lemon flavoured water originally from Paeroa in New Zealand, I had never heard of it but can confirm it is a very refreshing, thirst quenching beverage!
We tried the chicken dippers to start, which were crispy & accompanied by a nice chilli dip, what followed were some of the biggest crispiest onion rings ever, pretty ordinary chips and great burgers, although mine “Habanero” which was pretty hot but I should have expected same as described as “hot and spicy sauce, mozzarella, salad & mayonnaise”. Great buns, salad and a nice side order of 3 different dips, blue cheese was the favourite with nice creamy lumps of blue cheese, garlic mayo – lots of garlic and an ordinary thousand island. Burgers had a good chunky consistency and fab beef flavour, the menu stated “All Aberdeen Angus” which could mean lots of things these days!
Prices were reasonable (starters, sides, 2 x burgers & drinks £28) and as we were famished everything went down a treat, chips the only slightly disappointing item (we left lot’s), would def go again and recommend you try L&P “World famous in New Zealand” lemonade as claimed on the tin, which sounds somewhat of an oxymoron!
