The fantastic weather over the weekend of Leeds Loves Food brought out the crowds to drink, feast and watch a few cookery demos… Brian Turner was in attendance over the weekend for food demos, book signings and a hosted dinner at Anthony’s in the Corn Exchange.
Whilst the weather was great for ambling around the stalls, watching the demo’s and sampling some of the fantastic Yorkshire Fayre, the mass of free samples from Asda and the heat, meant for a poor trade for many of the independent food producers but some of the savvy stalls that supplied beer, cocktails and festival food had a great weekend.
The Yorkshire Chorizo Scotched Eggs were loved by all and made a perfect lunch nibble.
On the drink front, local Brewery’s were in evidence and looked to be selling well, I tried Kirkstall Brewery’s Dissolution IPA, 5%, a delicious amber ale with a substantial hop kick and from the Kirkstall stall a New York Cider.
Other beers seen but not tried (I was working!) included, Saltaire Blonde 4%, Bingley Beer Factory 4.3%, Thornbridge Jaipur 5.9%, Passion Fruit Perry 7.5%, Cherry Perry 7.5% and Strawberry Cider 7.5%.
and of course Fiona Sciolti’s Chocolate Ice Cream delighted the palate & cooled the head.
Lots more on the food in part #2.
